Frugal Innovation never stops.....

It has been our company tagline since many years. Frugal Innovation can be described as "achieving more while using fewer resources" .

At Signal Plus we strive to offer products from manufacturers who take sustainability seriously. Using fewer resources also means minimizing the environmental impact of our architectural finishes during production, during the time they are being used and at the end of their lifetime. Think about carpet tiles made with yarn from regenerated nylon, or PVC sheet vinyl made without biocides or phthalate plasticizers. We offer many loose-lay floor covering collections that do not require full spread adhesive. All our interior decoration collections can be recycled. We promote the use of high speed dry-buffing to maintain and restore the surface of our Tarkett sheet vinyl, saving substantial amounts of waste water, chemicals and detergents.

Together, we can significantly reduce our impact on the Hong Kong and Macau ecosystems.

BEAM Plus

BEAM Plus is Hong Kong’s leading initiative to offer independent assessment of building sustainability performance. Its major aims are to enhance the health and wellbeing of building occupants, to reduce the environmental impact of buildings, as well as to make buildings more efficient and emit less carbon.

LEED

LEED, developed by the US Green Building Council (USGBC), is the most widely used green building rating system in the world and is used to promote sustainable design and building performance.

WELL

The WELL Building Standard® is a performance-based system for measuring, certifying, and monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and wellbeing, through air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort, and mind. WELL is managed and administered by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), a public benefit corporation whose mission is to improve human health and wellbeing through the built environment.

How do we contribute to green building labels?

Individual building materials are not certified by any sustainable building label. However, they can contribute to the overall sustainability and wellness level of the building.  The way they are produced, and the composition of their content, can add credits to the final building sustainability certification rating.

Recycled Content

Most of our floor covering products such as vinyl and carpet contain substantial percentages of recycled content.

Depending on the collection, this can be post-industrial or post-consumer recycled content. Percentages of recycled content can go as high as 75% for certain carpet backings such as Modulyss EcoBack.

We can inform you about the recycled content for all of our interior finishes.

Indoor Air Quality

A healthy indoor environment and breathing clean air without the smell of a new interior: That's the key when designing and delivering a new-build or renovation project. Many building materials emit Volatile Organic Compounds or VOC's in short. The objective for manufacturers is to minimize this VOC emission to near zero.

At Signal Plus, we promote floor covering products from world-class brands who excel in producing products with VOC emissions that are far below the industry standard. Most of Tarkett sheet vinyl collections have even near undetectable VOC emission levels.

Please contact us for indoor air quality details of any of our product ranges.

Carbon Footprint

We are conscious that carbon emissions need to be reduced, eliminated or offset to stop climate change and global warming.

Many of the brands that we promote are carbon neutral companies and are striving to become carbon negative. For Tarkett sheet vinyl we can precisely calculate the carbon footprint per product and for your entire floor area. Offset plans are available on request to compensate for the remaining CO2 emissions.

Our team can guide you with your carbon footprint enquiries.

Environmental Product Declaration

An Environmental Product Declaration, or EPD, is a document which transparently communicates the environmental performance or impact of any product or material over its lifetime.

Within the construction industry, EPDs support carbon emission reduction by making it possible to compare the impacts of different materials and products in order to select the most sustainable option. EPDs help to achieve EPD and LCA credits in certification schemes, like LEED, BREAM PLUS and others.

An EPD is usually valid for five years, and is generated according to the relevant standards. Construction EPDs are based on the ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14025, EN 15804 or ISO 21930 standards.

EPDs available for most of our floor covering collections.

Material Health Statement

The MHS® is a voluntary statement to inform interested customers about the expected health properties of a product during its intended use phase and in a defined target scenario for productive after-use management. The MHS® serves the customers’ needs for information on a product’s chemical safety. It goes beyond safety datasheets in which the specifications for composition declaration are limited to intrinsically dangerous substances with a content exceeding high thresholds.

The reporting format “MHS®” is a trademark of the EPEA Internationale Umweltforschung GmbH, which performs the assessments underpinning the statement.

Material Health Statements are available for all Tarkett floor covering products.
